Goliath 2026: Damon Burch-Hyson Conquers Record Field to Take £365,520

The largest poker tournament outside Las Vegas once again shattered expectations. This year's Goliath 2026 in Coventry, UK, attracted massive crowds, but it was one man who stood out. The champion title went to British player Damon Burch-Hyson, who transformed his buy-in into a dream prize of over £365,000 after an intense final and a deal in the last four players.

The £200 Goliath tournament, held at Grosvenor G Casino, once again lived up to its reputation as the “people’s Main Event.” An astonishing 14,663 entries took part, easily surpassing last year's record of 12,961 entries. Thanks to this massive turnout, the prizepool soared to £2,228,780, well above the original £2 million guarantee.

Damon Burch-Hyson, primarily an online player and past Sunday Million champion, navigated his way to the title with patient play. Entering the final day as one of many, he capitalized on the momentum and aggression to secure his victory.

The finale brought unexpected drama. When Reema Bodalia exited in fifth place as the tournament's last female player, the remaining four players agreed to an ICM deal. They continued to play for the title and an additional £88,520 for the winner. As the chip leader, Damon negotiated the best terms.

The tournament didn't reach a heads-up and was decided in a triple all-in. Lewis Aikman pushed his entire stack with A c 5 h, Damon Burch-Hyson called with A d 8 s, and Jonny Elworthy joined with Q d 9 s. The board of 6 s 4 s J h J c 3 s missed all players, allowing Damon to eliminate both opponents in a single hand, sealing his historic triumph.

Damon Burch-Hyson's victory created a unique situation through the 4-way deal, as his tournament winnings ended up £20 higher than the originally set reward for first place.
