Prophetic Dream Before the Final Table
This year's WSOPC Southern Indiana Main Event, with a $1,700 buy-in, saw 282 entries at Caesar's casino. Players generated a prize pool of $427,330, with prizes distributed among the top 43 participants.
Izadi entered the final day as the chipleader, maintaining his lead to the very end. A charming anecdote from the final day involved a dream shared by his good friend and later heads-up opponent, Robert Hankins.
On the morning before the showdown, Hankins confided in Izadi about his dream where both would face off for the title and Izadi would let him win. Izadi playfully replied that the dream might come true in everything except the final winner.
After Bradford Albrinck exited in third place, the dream became reality as two 10-time ring holders battled for the championship. In the decisive hand, Hankins went all-in with A h 6 s, and Izadi called with A c T c. The board A d K d 7 h K s 7 c gave both players two pairs, but the kicker secured Izadi’s victory.
Izadi claimed his 11th WSOPC gold ring and became only the second player in the circuit's history to win four Main Event titles. Earlier in 2023, he clinched his second Main Event title after dominating the Cherokee tournament in May.
