JPF 2026: Yuan Li Claims Victory After Lightning-Fast Heads-Up in $8K Super U Challenge

Article cover

The Super U Challenge with a buy-in of $8,000 drew 54 entries. This smaller field generated a prizepool of $387,600, with only the top 9 players taking a share.

The path to the title was especially valuable for 2023 WSOP bracelet holder Yuan Li, considering he had just finished second in another High Roller event 48 hours earlier. Lithuanian pro Matas Cimbolas started as the chipleader at the 9-player final table but eventually landed in 6th place.

Yuan Li carefully built his stack through cautious play. He gradually orchestrated several eliminations and entered the final heads-up with a 2:1 advantage over Japan’s Takashi Ogura.

The entire heads-up lasted incredibly short, with the champion crowned after just four hands. In the decisive hand, Ogura pushed his chips in with A-Q against Li’s Q-J. However, Li hit trips, sealing his victory.
