Luke Schwengel Triumphs at the Massive Deutsche Poker Tour

Article cover

The DPT Main Event, with an exceptionally accessible €175 buy-in, attracted a massive crowd, which was reflected in the final participation numbers. A total of 1,835 entries were recorded, almost reaching the guaranteed €300,000 prizepool. Fifty-one players advanced to the demanding final day, all securing at least a €340 payout by that time.

Schwengel's journey to the title was long and challenging, as the final battles at King's Resort lasted into the early morning hours. The pivotal moment of the tournament came when the last five players agreed on a five-way ICM deal. Although the original prize for the winner was set at €31,500, Schwengel secured €22,400 and the official champion title after the payout was split. Interestingly, Sebastian Jonathan Wilfling, the runner-up, received the same amount after the deal.
