Scott Stewart Claims His 9th WSOPC Lake Tahoe Ring and $125,279

Article cover

The prestigious $1,700 NLH Main Event held at Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe attracted 435 entries. This turnout boosted the prize pool to $659,025, to be divided among the top 67 players.

For Stewart, the victory carried deeply personal significance. In 2022, his best friend Jarod Minghini won the same tournament at the same venue, just weeks after the tragic death of his brother Bobby. Stewart was on the final table with Minghini then, finishing sixth. This time, roles reversed, and Minghini stood by Stewart as his main support.

In the heads-up, Tyler Parker started with over a 2:1 lead, but Scott Stewart handled the pivotal moment better. On a board of 6 h 6 s 5 c 6 d 9 h, Stewart faced Parker's all-in and had to decide on his tournament life.

After a long thought, Stewart took a sip from a bottle of Blanton’s bourbon, saying, “Let’s see if whiskey talks to me one more time,” and called with A s 9 c. Parker showed a mere bluff with Q h 7 d, and Stewart secured a massive chiplead that he never relinquished.
