The inaugural stop of the prestigious World Series of Poker Circuit in the Spanish capital drew immense interest from both local and international poker communities. The WSOPC Madrid Main Event, with a €1,500 buy-in, recorded a total of 918 entries, propelling the prize pool to €1,164,942.
The final table featured a gripping poker spectacle. Nacho Barbero, who entered with the smallest stack, delivered an extraordinary performance in the first 90 minutes, being dealt A-A five times and swiftly building a massive chiplead.
After Tom-Aksel Bedell's elimination in 3rd place, the heads-up duel between Jay Hoebe and Nacho Barbero began. It was a clash full of twists and turns with constant chip swings. Hoebe was unfazed by his more experienced opponent and eventually seized control.
In the tournament's final hand, Hoebe went all-in with Q s T s, while Barbero attempted another double-up with K d 2 c. On the flop, A h Q d 2 d, Hoebe took the lead, but the turn 2 s gave Barbero trips, leaving Hoebe with just two outs. The river Q h completed Hoebe's higher full house, sealing his career-defining victory.
