The third one-day tournament of the series with a $5,300 buy-in attracted 78 entries, pushing the prizepool to $390,000. Payouts were set for the top 12 players, with unlucky bubble boy Alex Foxen just missing out.
Lonis entered the seven-handed final table as the chipleader. The tournament saw the eliminations of Natalie Ferguson (7th place), Patrick Leonard (6th place), and Jim Collopy (5th place).
After Adam Hendrix was knocked out in 3rd place, Jesse Lonis and Sam Laskowitz agreed on a deal to split the winnings. Lonis secured $101,000, Laskowitz $78,400, while they played on for the title and PGT points.
In the decisive hand of the tournament, Lonis pushed all-in with A c 4 c, which Laskowitz quickly called with his dominating A s 6 h. However, the flop T c 5 c 2 c gave Lonis a made flush, leaving Laskowitz with no chance for a comeback.
Following a 6th place finish in the opening Event #1 and a bronze finish in Event #2, Lonis converted his third final table appearance into his first career PGT Sprint series title. He collected $175,350 in winnings over the first three events of the series and earned 276 PGT points, propelling him into the TOP 40 of the entire PGT season leaderboard.
